Commentary by Kyoshu Sama: Worldly pleasures are only momentary desires of the flesh that can never be satisfied completely. They should be regarded as temptations of evil.

Commentary by Kyoshu Sama: Kangi is an act of giving. If we can feel joy in doing so, then through this practice we will experience reaching the other shore (enlightenment).

Commentary by Kyoshu Sama: To cut the negative influences of karma, letting go of the ego is not enough. As is indicated in the Mahaparinirvana Sutra, when we practice the Teaching and go further -- beyond the state of egolessness -- we can obtain the joy of wonderous existence, here in this world.

Commentary by Kyoshu Sama: Some people say they are too busy to read and learn about the Teaching. However, the important thing is to make effort to show sincere devotion to the Buddha, in other words, to continue to search for truth despite the hectic pace of everyday life.

Commentary by Kyoshu Sama: "Oneness means to live embraced in the great benevolence of the Buddha. When we realize this, we will come to know that our day-to-day responsibilities are also the sacred deeds of living a Buddha-Centered life.

Commentary by Kyoshu Sama: Flowers bloom in spring, and leaves change color in autumn. Through the changing seasons, the natural world continues to preach the unchanging Dharma. Although times may change, the Buddha's love and compassion do not.

Commentary by Kyoshu Sama: It is stated in the Nirvana Sutra, "When a Mani gem* is placed in clouded water the water will become pure." When you realize the deep meaning of this, you will truly see how precious the Teaching is. *A Mani gem is a legendary gem said to remove the causes of sorrow and evil.

Commentary by Kyoshu Sama: Attachments arise from greed. When one is able to subdue greed, then anger and ignorance will naturally be subdued as well, allowing one to find true contentment.

Commentary by Kyoshu Sama: The Shinnyo Teaching can be traced to the path started by the Buddha Shakyamuni. All who walk the path of the Teaching are able to reach the world of happiness because it is the way of truth.

Commentary by Kyoshu Sama: If you were to think, "I should be able to receive some benefit in return for all of this Kangi I offered," then you would not reap any merit for your act. Only a sincere offering, one made with no expectations of receiving anything in return, reaches the Spiritual World and eliminates negative Karma.
